Editing Driver DOT Information

KB-01044

Purpose & Scope

LoadTrek users will follow the steps below to edit the driver DOT logs.

Editing the driver DOT log is done primarily to correct the following:

  • Driver failed to log on or off the keypad

  • Keypad or other hardware failure prevented driver interaction

  • Driver used vehicle from a previous day that does not have an electronic DOT device

LoadTrek.net does not endorse the manipulation of DOT data to disguise or omit valid DOT violations.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the On Board Information window. From the top toolbar: Edit->DOT Info.

  2. Select the appropriate date in the 'DOT Log Date' field and click the 'Go' button.

  3. Left click on the driver name to display the DOT log for the selected date.

  4. Left click the selection box labeled 'Allow Log Edit' at the top of the window.

  5. Insert a new DOT period by moving the arrow cursor over the appropriate colored line. You will notice the cursor change from an arrow to a cross and small blue numbers will display indicating the position of the cursor in the 24 hour graph. Right click at the desired time to display a window listing DOT periods that differ from the existing period. Left click on the name of the period you would like to insert. Ex: Insert Not Driving

  6. Delete a DOT period by following step 5 above and choosing 'Delete Period'.

  7. Delete multiple DOT periods by left clicking and dragging while the mouse is located in the white area of the DOT graph (not on a colored line). This will highlight a section of the DOT graph with a blue background. Next, right click within the highlighted area to display a window listing edit options. Left click on the text labeled 'Delete DOT Periods'. You will be prompted with a pop up message asking to confirm your actions. Answer 'Yes' to continue or 'No' to return to the graph without deleting the highlighted periods.

  8. Synchronize a driver DOT log to a vehicle DOT log by displaying the vehicle DOT on the graph. This is done by clicking the selection box labeled 'Vehicle DOT', choosing the appropriate vehicle and clicking the 'Go' button. Next, left click and drag while the mouse is located in the white area of the DOT graph (not on a colored line). This will highlight a section of the DOT graph with a blue background. Be sure to highlight only the portion of the graph you would like to match up to the vehicle DOT for the specified driver. Next, right click within the highlighted area to display a window listing edit options. Left click on the text labeled 'Synchronize DOT'. You will be prompted with a pop up message asking to confirm your actions. Answer 'Yes' to continue or 'No' to return to the graph without performing the driver-vehicle DOT synchronization.

  9. All edited DOT periods will be displayed as dotted lines on printed DOT logs.
