Assigning a Load / Job to a Driver

KB-01015

Purpose & Scope

This document will detail the necessary steps to assign a previously created load to a driver in the Route Plane.

Procedure

  1. Open the Route Plane by clicking on the text labeled 'Route Plane' in the start up screen, or the icon labeled 'Routes' in the top toolbar.

  2. Select the appropriate date from the pop up calendar. The date selected should correspond with the first stop of the load being assigned. Example: If the first stop of load #555 is scheduled for 3/25/08 at 13:30, select March 25, 2008 from the pop up calendar.

  3. The Route Plane displays the previously created loads in the left window (Jobs Tree), the active buttons in the center window (Buttons), and the route grid and list of drivers in the right window (Routes for: date).

  4. Use the 'Tree Options' buttons in the center to select criteria to display the desired loads and driver groups. Use the upper 'Tree Options' button to sort the loads, and the lower 'Tree Options' button to change the driver group.

  5. Left click on the load you would like to assign. This will expand the load to reveal the stage numbers, stop locations, stop types, stop times, and bills of lading.

  6. Place the arrow cursor over the yellow stage number of the load you wish to assign. Left click and hold the left mouse button.

  7. Slowly move the arrow cursor to the right side of the screen and place over the name of the driver you would like to assign to this stage of the load. Release the left mouse button. Note: Users should see a small square with the '+' sign directly beneath the arrow cursor when over the driver's name.

  8. The screen will now display the route assigned to the driver. Above the driver list will appear the stops of the route in the 'Route Grid'. The route consists of the scheduled load stops plus the origin and destination. Beneath the driver's name will appear the route icon and route number. Beneath the route icon will appear the load number and customer name (or contract number). The scheduled load stops will be displayed underneath the load number.

  9. You have successfully assigned a load to a driver and created a route. Click on the 'Show Legend' button in the center, lower portion of the screen for more info on the layout of the Route Plane.
